TELETSKAYA SCHOOL OF YOUTH ECOTOURISM





 Teletskaya school was established by the administration of the Altaiskiy State Nature Biosphere Reserve in 2010 with the support from the Russian Office of UNICEF, the Ecological Center of Gorno-Altaisk State University, NGOs – “Guardians of the Lake” and MOO “Information for All” (Interregional Public Organization).  


Teletskaya school is a natural continuation of the Altaiskiy Biosphere Reserve's long-term program “Nature and Children” targeted at the prevention of children and youth’s social disorders by means of active ecotourism.   

Teletskaya school is the structural subdivision of the Environmental Education Department of the Altaiskiy Reserve, and operates in accordance with the approved Provision.

Teletskaya school incorporates the following projects and programs:   

 1. School of young guides “Health Trail” – a joint project with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth Policy of the Altai Republic, the Ecocenter of Gorno-Altaisk State University and NGO “Guardians of the Lake”.

 2. “Altyn-Kol Trail” -  a joint project with the Ministry of Education of the Altai Republic, Young Tourist Park of the Altai Republic, the Ecocenter of Gorno-Altaisk State University and NGO “Guardians of the Lake”.

 3. “Scarlet Sails” – a joint project with the Ecocenter of Gorno-Altaisk State University and NGO “Guardians of the Lake”.

 4. “Forest Robinsons” – a joint project with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development of the Altai Republic, the Ecocenter of Gorno-Altaisk State University and NGOs “Vozrozhdeniye” (“Renaissance”, Society for Disabled Children) and “Guardians of the Lake”.

5. “Above the Lake” – a joint project with the Barnaul State Pedagogical College and NGO “Guardians of the Lake”.

6. “Warrior’s Path” – a joint project with the Barnaul boarding school providing initial flight training.

7. “Berendei” – a joint project with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth Policy of the Altai Republic, Gorno-Altaisk school №12 and NGO “Guardians of the Lake”.

Since 2007, within the framework of the Teletskaya school of youth ecotourism, Altaiskiy Biosphere Reserve has been hosting annual conferences and seminars highlighting the issues of reviving and carrying on the best traditions of children and youth ecotourism in the Russian Federation.

 Teletskaya school’s publications:

 "Children and the Lake” – collection of resource (methodological) materials  on applying methods of environmental education in preventing children and youth’s social disorders (under the editorship of Y.D. Veselovskiy), diploma winner of All-Russian Contest “Printing industry Maitre- 2006”

”Along the Health Trail with Cucaracha”  - a collection of stories for schoolchildren and students about Lake Teletskoye and the Altaiskiy Biosphere Reserve, author – Y.D. Veselovskiy.  

“Youth ecotourism as a universal means of preventing children and youth’s social disorders and a prerequisite for sustainable development of Lake Teletskoye – the World Heritage Site”  - materials of All-Russian/International research and training conference, under the editorship of Y.D. Veselovskiy, V.R. Oparin, S.N. Shchigreva. Altai Republic, Altaiskiy Biosphere Reserve, 27 – 30 September 2010.
